Supporting All Saints Church, Morston

Works

In July 2018, Friends of Morston Church (FMC) has recently undertook a major programme of building and restoration works at the All Saints Church. This ambitious project was made possible by the generous donations and fundraising of FMC supporters. Learn more about the project and FMC's other initiatives by reading more on our website.

By  July 2018 improving drainage was the priority, allowing rainwater to be properly carried away from the fabric of the building, before works began on the roof. Rotten woodwork in the chancel was removed and replaced. Work was also completed on repairs to the south aisle roof. That this exciting programme was possible is due to the great generosity of those who have raised money and donated to FMC in recent years.

The scaffolding inside the church was down in time for Christmas, and after a thorough clean up we were ready for services.

Thanks to a remarkable fund-raising effort from the PCC, restoration of the painted tympanum is complete. One of the last surviving Royal Arms and Decalogue sets in England that has been installed in its proper location, a full report on the restoration process and what was discovered during it will be released this year.
